First novel - The Coldest Day in Texas, TCU Press (97) one of three finalists for The League of Austin Writers Teddy Award presented at the Governor’s Mansion by Laura Bush.  This historical novel set in the panhandle of Texas has won awards in The Greater Dallas Writer’s Association, and Oklahoma Writers’ Federation, Inc.. 

 

Swept Back to a Texas Future, a historical play published by Hendrick-Long (91)

 

Numerous articles and stories, including Chicken Soup for the Bride, Living With Children, Light and Life, and Doll Reader.

 

Winner of twenty-five-area writing awards.

Ø      1999 Southwest Author of the Year, presented by the Duncanville Public Libraries

Ø       1998 Teddy Book Award presented by Laura Bush, First Lady of Texas

 

As a freelance writer I sometimes write for shows like Radio Disney's public affairs show.  

 

Editor – Editor and contributing writer for Granbury Showcase Magazine a monthly slick magazine for tourism and activities in the Granbury area.

 

Speaker - Ms. Freeman has had the opportunity to speak to over thirty thousand children, teachers and writers.   Her author visits focus on: her own work, the writing process, Texas history, responsible behavior and values, and finding your own family history. 

 

Teacher – Currently teaching “Writing for Children” at University of Texas Arlington, Texas A&M Tarlton’s Langdon Center and Angelo State University.
